A beautiful Song You got a friend

This morning I was watching the Today show. I was actually in the kitchen making my cup of coffee, when I heard the song on the TV. I just started to sing along with the singer who was Carol King. I knew it right away when I heard the melody. Our memory is so great, it can remember things when we think that we have forgotten things. It can take us down memory lane. How sweet and wonderful it is to have memories. We are blessed with this ability by the grace of God. I was so inspired by the song and the message it delivers that I looked up the lyrics.

God is our friend and its so good to know that we can call on him anytime of the day or night. Even when people fail us. The Bible tells us to "Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for.  Keep on looking, and you will find.  Keep on knocking, and the door will will be opened.  For everyone who asks, received.  Everyone who seeks, finds.  And the door is opened to everyone who knocks." Matthew 7:7-8 God is our friend that is there for us. Just call his name.

Lyrics-You Got A Friend

When you're down and troubled
And you need some loving care
And nothin', nnothin' is goin' right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come runnin' to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend

If the sky above you
Grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud
Soon you'll hear me knockin' at your door

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come runnin', runnin, yeah, yeah,
to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there, yes I will

Now ain't it good to know
that you've got a friend
When people can be so cold
They'll hurt you, yes, and desert you
And take your soul if you let them
Oh, but don't you let them.

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come runnin, runnin', yeah, yeah, yeah
to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there, yes I will
You've got a friend,
you've got a friend,
ain't it good to know,
you've got a friend,
ain't it good to know,
ain't it good to know,
ain't it good to know,
you've got a friend,
oh yeah now, you've got a friend,
yeah baby, you've got a friend,
oh yeah, you've got a friend.

I too remember that song and much enjoyed it.
    The words are so enriching.

I wonder if Carole is the songwriter and the original singer of that song.

Thank you for sharing the lyrics, kemaris. I found myself mentally singing along.
